this is some bullshit

I’m a hardcore bookworm. I love physical books. I like to hold them. I like to display them. I admire writers. I love a bookstore.

I have spent many years avoiding tacky marketing stunts like bookcover labels for Oprah’s or Pick-a-white-female-celebrity’s Book Club. I am buying the book to read its contents and to build my personal library, not to advertise your virtual hen party while I read on the subway.

Seriously, do they really think Reese Witherspoon’s stamp of approval has the value of a Pulitzer or Booker Prize? FOH. And they’re no longer sticky labels you can carefully peel off; they’re embossed.

Now here come the movie studios with bookcovers emblazoned with “Now a Major Motion Picture!” Like that’s an incentive to read/purchase a BOOK. Oftentimes these “movie tie-in” covers co-exist with the “classic” versions and I opt for the latter. But I ordered these two books online and Barnes & Noble did the old bait and switch on me.

If I wasn’t so lazy I’d go exchange the damn things.
