three ovens and bad pizza (10/1/16)

Last night I dreamt I lived in a huge apartment, structured like the parlor level of a brownstone but in a larger building. There was lots of sunlight and the windows faced the street. The view resembled that of my old apartment on Hudson Street in Hoboken.

On one end of the apartment there was a small but incomplete kitchen. There was a range, a sink and counter and I had a lot of cooking utensils in a container on the counter. Like in my current kitchen, there was a lingering scent of smoke from burnt drippings in the range. There was a small TV on somewhere in that area as well. At the opposite end of the apartment was another kitchen, larger than the first. This one had two ranges, a wall of cabinets, and a sink and counter.

I couldn't believe I had three ranges, one that was fairly broken down and one that was brand new with some features I didn't recognize. I turned a dial that turned on a flame but it wasn't easy to turn it back off. As I struggled, I began to panic that I'd never be able to turn it off and the apartment would burn down. Finally I got it turned off. I decided to make pizza. Clearly this was about the pizza I had wanted for dinner last night but was too tired to make.

When I opened the two ranges in the larger kitchen, it didn't seem they had bottoms. Just coils. I thought "I can't make pizza in these. The cheese will drip all over the coils and then I'll never be able to clean them." But then I realized it was just an trick of the light and they did have normal bottoms. Suddenly the pizzas were cooking but all I could see was a ton of cheese dripping in the ovens. I ran to get a plate, so I could remove the pizzas and prevent a serious smoke situation. Just kept running back and forth...
