what i read in august

Pretty good month!

How To Say Babylon - Overall good learning about the Rastafarian lifestyle and discrimination against them I wasn’t aware of. I think she got a leeeetle bit full of herself toward the end; lots of “Girl, whet?” moments for me.

Black Skin, White Masks - Speaking of “Girl, whet?”. I don’t get the hype. I lost the thread; hated the writing style.

The Sympathizer - OUT-FUCKING-STANDING. This may be the best book I’ve read all year; it’s easily in my top 10 of all time. The writing is brilliant and the plot is gripping.

Slaughterhouse Five - I read this back in the day but didn’t remember the plot AT. ALL. Classic insightful, witty Vonnegut. The repetition of “So it goes”, however, made me homicidal.
