what I read in may
A strong field this month!
Infinite Jest - Still really good and I’m on track to finish in June thank you JESUS
Afropessimism - There were some interesting “scenes” but overall I’m not on board with bruh man’s theory.
James - Excellent. Would have been “outstanding” but for one eyerolling twist.
Except for Palestine - More great historical knowledge for me but they didn’t quite posit WHY Palestine is the exception
Eileen - Very good character study. It went off the rails a bit at the end though. Based on the trailer, I think the movie went even further off the rails. Oy.
In the Time of the Butterflies - Overall great because I am very intrigued by this period of history but I found one of the sisters highly unlikeable. So many eyerolls. Maybe Alvarez just wrote her TOO well? Definitely made we go down the Google rabbit hole for more info about the Mirabal sisters.
