what i read in october
Some variety this month…
The Fraud - I put off reading this for a while because I love me some Zadie and wanted to savor it. Loved the historical context and the story.
Sing, Unburied, Sing - In my new found frugality, I borrowed this one from the liberry. Great character study and a story that kept me riveted. A little too far of a dip into magical realism/ghost story towards the end for my taste though.
Mumbo Jumbo - Only got a couple of chapters in before I quit. The satire is too convoluted, not the sharpness of wit of a Vonnegut or Everett. Life’s too short to force yourself to read something when you’ve got a stack of stuff you want to read.
Ready for Revolution - still plugging away. Trying to set a pace of 14 pages a day to finish in December. I’m enjoying it but don’t want to be reading this in the new year.
Bel Canto - I’ve been wanting to read this for a while. Just started it.
